Bio: Ashe Denis was born in the small Northern Ontario city of North Bay of parents who were middle class and in financially stable condition. After graduation from Nipissing University, Ashe Denis moved to Ottawa so that he could have a comfortable job working in government. Denis however sought adventure and earned enough money to travel to California in order to challenge himself in the competitive martial arts field. Previously the young Denis had only done some karate at the local schools and boxing and wrestling in the backyard with his friends.
Ashe competed in local karate tournaments and was introduced to combat ju-jutsu for self defense and early formations of Gracie Garages. Lacking formal training, Denis was often used as a grappling dummy for famous martial artists in their demonstrations like Chuck Norris. It was through these that Denis met legendary Gracie Jiu-Jitsu master Jorge Correa De Lima. De Lima "discovered" Denis in his first trip to the United States to search for new students and brought him back to Rio De Janeiro where jiu-jitsu was founded.
Denis did surprisingly well in jiu-jitsu for a rookie and managed to enter some tournaments and help teaching classes but was kidnapped by men who ran underground vale tudo fights and through extortion tactics made Denis fight more experienced hometown Brazilian fighters. The Brazilians however underestimated Denis who managed to get lucky and attain a submission on one of the fighters in a huge upset. After attaining a respectable record, Denis formed a vale tudo team called Gracie Fission within De Lima's jiu-jitsu club and continues to teach private lessons today.
Now Denis is looking to recruit more members to fight under his vale tudo team and win in the illegal underground no holds barred fights held in Honolulu, Hawaii and endorsed by Stanley Fishman. Denis also runs a travel agency in Rio part time that focuses on bringing fighters to Brazil.
